From Nature to You II -Projects connects non-timber forest products into tourism. Project started 1.8.2009 and will end in 31.7.2012.
Project area: Lapland, North Ostrobothnia, Kainuu and North Karelia.
Why important?
Rural Finland has special nature and wealth of nature products. Products are at the same time exotic for tourists.
Also generally interest towards natural, healthy and pure things in everyday life and travelling is increasing.
Environmentally friendly tourism is the right way in the future.
Targets
1. Integrate nature and nature products better into tourism
2. Inform the customers about possibilities
3. Develop the route of mushrooms from forest to fork
4. Increase local ingredients on menu
Operations
Together with entrepreneurs we develop new products, services and activities including nature products. Project also set up meetings, increase the visibility of nature products, gather market information, produce brochures for tourists, share photos to press and take excursions to meet potential customers in Europe and Asia.
What have we done?
- National recipe competition connected fish and nature product on a fresh way
- Published a customer brochure in several European languages
- Education for entrepreneurs on herbs and mushrooms
- World Championships of berry picking 2011
- Published a customer brochure in Italian
- Excursion to Italia in fall 2010
- Company register on our website to increase the visibility of entrepreneurs in tourism, nature product and restaurant branche. Register entirely in finnish. Please feel free to contact us when trying to find a specific service or product from Northern Finland.
