Vuoton Joutsen has used highly ecologically sustainable practices in all of its activities since it was founded in 1992. Respecting the local culture, history and traditions is important to the company and ever-present in the services it provides. The company continues to look after traditional landscapes and wild plants, and it also provides instruction on the subject. Wild natural produce is widely used for nutrition, medicinal purposes and relaxation. Peacefulness and a slow way of life, natural springs in the vicinity and diverse bodies of water continue to offer a range of experiences for our guests.
Accommodation is provided in cottages, a villa or rooms on the banks of the Kiiminkijoki River or on the shore of a lake in its natural state. Accommodation is available all year round and food can be provided subject to reservation. Between June and September, there is camping in traditional landscapes, as well as a cafe/kiosk. Wild local fish and fishing, white water rafting and ancient history are highlighted. Our key goals are a personable approach, operating within the limits of our own resources, emphasising our limits and helping others to identify their limits.
